Slinky

Clever marketing:

It was actually a torsion spring used in ship-building that inspired the slinky:

The point is that, unlike a bed spring, slinkies have no compression or tension.

I'd be a nerd too if I could stop being so distracted. But I guess like the slinky, I have a short 'tension span.
